Description
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most frequently performed ballets at the Prague National Theater. Petr Zuska, artistic director of the Czech National Ballet, puts an emphasis on the cause of prejudice and blood feuds between the Montagues and Capulets: the eternal struggle of the male with the female principle. This production leaves room for multi-layered characters such as the monk Laurence, he is highlighted Renaissance man who represents human faith in God. His antagonist is Queen Mab, a mythical ruler of shadows, the "midwife of dreams and phantoms".
