The most trash app I have used for streaming. In a 2 h watch I get at least one connection lost error or some wierd error that the application crashed. Had this since reease, thought they will fix it. What kind of brain does the dev team have, do you do any mnitoring on the app or at least some QA?? It is pathetic, I hope you loose all subscribers....

On tv i have a single problem, it is always loading when starting a new episode or the first time im opening the app, 10-20 seconds wasted everytime. It is not the internet, netflix prime and youtube work just fine.
On the other hand the tv experience with hbo max is just the top of the iceberg, the app is just unusable on phone and here are the problems that i still remember:
It freezes out of nowhere and i have to restart the app.
I download a some tv series and when i try to watch it is says that i have no internet connection, excuse me? Why did i download them in the first place? Also why are the downloaded episodes loading for 2-3 minutes befor i cand watch them.
I always have to change from wifi to mobile data because the app appearently is not connected to the internet while all the other apps say otherwise

If you had an app similar to netflix, not the interface but the way it works ,it would be just perfect

Good content, but the app always crashes, if I paused a movie or serie when I returned to continue watching it appears as “no internet connection” which it’s usually solve by refreshing the app until now, I have more than 1 hour trying to connect but “no internet connection” which is not correct. I can’t access HBO on my TV (bug error) neither in my iPad. Definitely not worthy to have a subscription if you can’t access the content.

The app randomly “loses connection”, downloads “fail” sometimes even vanish for no apparent reason, and the episodes/movies need some persuasion to actually play.
It’s buggy, laggy (it looks good though I’ll give the devs that) and it all leads to a very unsatisfactory and frustrating user experience.

In primul rand, aplicatia de smart tv e singura care merge prost din toate de pe tv. Deci nu e de la tv clar. Astepti 5 min pe ceas sa poti da play la un episod sau film. Apoi “bucuriile” nu se termina aici, pt ca Hbo Max, o data la 2min sau 5min, iti face buffering (din nou, singura aplicatie tv care face asta pe smart tv) si efectiv nu poti urmaro un episod, sa nu zic ca-ti taie tot cheful din a vedea un lungmetraj!!! Absolut incredibil de prost! Am ajuns sa dau play din site uri web pe tv ca sa pot urmari episoade sau filme care sunt pe HBO , desi sunt abonat de ani :)) penibil!

I have a 500mbps network connection. Every online activity is smooth. Except HBOMAX.
HBOMAX runs in 320p/460p and is often stuck and in loading until I close and restart the app. Very disappointed. You have a movie streaming app. You have one job. You’re paid for this job. Do it!

I have deleted the app, reinstalled it and tried everything, on all my devices it is fozen on that page and it goes back and forth app store to app to app store and so on. While I was in the app (on IOS), I received a message to update to the newest version and I did and now the app does not work at all. I restarted my phone, I deleted and reinstalled the app but nothing. When I open the app the only thing that appears is a "Download" button and if I click on it, it takes me to the App Store where the only option is to "Open" the app so this is an endless loop.

So the app is ok as in how it looks, but when it comes to offline content the weird things happen. You can download it, but the download fails sometimes for no apparent reason, thing that is not that inconvenient cause with good internet you can just retry pretty fast. Yet, when it comes to watching that offline content you can’t access the downloads because you are lacking “internet connection”. Well, thanks HBO, I know I’m not connected to the grid, this is why I have the offline content for.

On IOS device the subtitle tab does not appear in the settings menu, nor accesibility!! I cannot change the subtitles font on anything, it's TOO BIG! Plus the subtitles is sluggish and whenever I play on any chromescast device it lags, some times pops up sometimes doesn't!! It says "You can change subtitles in Settings" which is false cause there is no such thing in settings!

I usually use the app by connecting it to the tv (i have a chromecast) and it works really slow, it takes a while to connect, then you can’t tell when it’s actually connected. Maybe you should look up to the netflix app.

Doesn’t remember timestamps in movies or series on PC. Doesn’t work on older TV’s (NETFLIX does). Sometime, when you finish an episode and you click on next it crashes and exists the app (Iphone 13 so it’s not such an old hardware). Really wanted to say something that I liked but the fact that “it sometimes works as intended” just doesn’t seem to be enough.

First thing that i didn’t see when I click on a movie is the TRAILER of that movie, guys it’s a movie app, and I’m talking for both iOS and TV app.
It’s true some movies does have trailer but it’s a button for that when it should be the main thing when you click a movie.
Second Dolby audio isn’t recognized by the home cinema amplifier, and it’s not the amplifie’s fault, on Netflix it auto-detects and changes to 7.1 Dolby

Good content but bad app. It is freezing every episode o House of Dragons and other movies. My TV is new and my internet speed is 1gb. The app is a joke. I will unsubscribe and I will wath show online or on Netflix. They will answer to contact customer service without reading this comment… HBO is aware of these problems but they do nothing to solve the app

You switched from hbogo to hbomax but the issues are the same.
- if you try to download 2 episodes at once it just stops, it shows as if it is still donloadimg but it’s not
- “Continue watching option” is a joke, it keeps “forgetting” where you left the episode/movie
- no control for brightness/volume during play
Everybody keeps comparing to Netflix, they are lightyears away with their app..you never got close with the functionality/user interface of your app to Netflix app.

I have prepared for a 12 hour- flight by downloading some TV-series to watch. Extremely disappointed when I saw that none of my downloads could be played. In addition to this, the downloads occupied 17 GB comparing to ~ 2 GB on Netflix, for about the same amount of hours to watch.
This problem was both on my phone and on my laptop.
For the content you provide, it’s a shame that it cannot be viewed offline.

Almoat every time i open a new movie or an episode from a series the sound doesn’t work. I need to exit show or even the app several times until i’m able to start that show with sound. This happens on iphone, ipad and on apple tv.

The app looks slicker than the old HBO Go, but it is as buggy as it can be. It crashes at opening random movies, it won’t start some movies unless you download them first (or maybe they only start on a full moon, who knows?), the lag on taking any kind of command makes you think your internet is still on dial-up :)
But the “best” thing happened just now - for some reason, the app decided I have no Internet and told me to check my connection… all the while it kept downloading an episode right in front of my eyes *facepalm*

Tokyo Vice, original HBO production, on HBO Max RO is at episode 3 and on other streaming online free platforms is at episode 7. Where is the logic? Since you offer a paid subscription, why don’t you offer to your clients / consumers up to date TV Shows that are under your trademark? It is insulting for someone that pays money and for this reason you shouldn’t charge anything!

Since the update released on the 8th april, the search is unusable on appletv. The results and the recommandations are overlapping the onscreen keyboard.
The settings are also not accessible. It’s shown in the bottom left corner, but can’t select it.
Fix the downloads feature pls

It’s always glitching - if I try downloading more than one thing at a time, all downloads fail. And the whole app freezes on the Download screen, so I have to reboot :(

Bu far the worst of the big streaming apps. Closes unexpectedly. Even when online, with good speed the app for some reason thinks it’s offline. Downloads are a nightmare and horrible to manage. Pretty much all the bugs HBO Go had and some more.

I thought hbo go was bad, and was hoping with hbo max release some problems would be fixed, but boy what a surprise. Hard to find shows and even harder to find information about them.
Movies don’t start right away

From diferent devices, the movies can’t start. You have to reopen the app, close, open the movie again. Sometimes, right between episodes, the account validation pops up and the app is unusable for a while.

The app is really cool and all, I really like the fact that it has many good movies and series BUT it has also really bad bugs: it crashes out of nowhere, doesn’t let me watch the downloaded content (I watched 30’ then the app freezed and all the content dissapeared), when I am on my laptop I always have to refresh the pages because the subtitles are gone or the site just crash (sometimes on my phone too)
The app would be really nice if it would work well. If the bugs don’t get fixed I will delete it and go back to Netflix because it works better.

Good titles, but the app is extremely weak !!!
Freezing / Blurry image/ Stopping/ Resetting etc etc , doesn't matter if I use it on the smart tv, tablet or laptop. I consider it to be even worst then HBO GO from witch I ended my subscription because of the same reasons.
I have to mention that I have a strong internet connection and this problems I definitely don’t have with other streaming platforms.
I couldn’t give less than a star !
Get rid of the unnecessary load of useless options and FIX THE BUGS !!!!

At first i was pleased with the looks of the app. But then… you get disconnected from the app at random moments, on your phone, or laptop, or TV. For some reasons your “continue watching” is bugged and it shows you an episode which you’ve seen long before. App crashes at random moments. Errors like “we were unable to play the title” occur often, the only solution is to close the app, clear cache and restart it. The app is a complete mess at the moment. The content is great tho! Please fix the app.

I’ve been waiting for so long but now it finally arrived in Romania. Now I can watch my favourite shows like GOT or Ruxx.
Fix Subtitle background color

Can you please fix the subtitle background color to be transparent? Also the font type was better on hbo go!
